12th Conference of the IOBC-WPRS Working Group on the

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to inform you that the 12th Conference of the IOBC-wprs (OILB-srop) Working Group on “Integrated Protection of Stored Products” will be held in Pisa (Italy) from 4 to 6 September 2019. The Conference will take place in the conference hall of the Educational Pole “Le Piagge” of the University of Pisa located in the center of the town, easily reached on foot or by bus from the suggested hotels.

The Conference is open to all researchers working on the Integrated Protection of Stored Products (IPSP) that combines different methods of preventing damage caused by insects, mites, rodents, birds or fungi. Current trends in the protection of Stored Products and the provision of quality food and other products for the market calls for limited use of chemicals. The goal is to assure the necessary protection to the food using eco-friendly methods and tools while relying to chemical methods only in case of ineffectiveness of alternative methods. Aside from current knowledge and research advances, presentations regarding promotion and implementation of IPSP in everyday practice will also be welcome at the Conference.

Overall, the conference will provide an opportunity for exchanging information and ideas, as well as strengthening common research and collaboration, stimulating new interactions, among participants.

  The scientific program of the Conference will be divided into the following sessions:

  1. Methods of pest prevention during storage, transportation and handling of stored products

  2. Prevention of microflora infection and development of mycotoxins

  3. Physical, chemical and other techniques for stored product pest control

  4. Natural products

  5. Biological control of stored product pests

  6. Wood-boring, urban and museum pests

  7. Quarantine and regulatory issues

  8. Pest management in the food industry

The Conference will include oral presentations (each session starting with a presentation by a keynote speaker) and poster presentations. Participation of graduate students or researchers from developing countries is highly encouraged.

English will be the official language of the Conference. Proceedings with all contributions, both oral and poster presentations, will published as full papers or extended abstracts in the IOBC-wprs Bulletin.
